Our New office space

Exciting things are happening at Independent Living Ireland. We are delighted to announce that our team has moved to a new location in Athenry, our old office in Athlone served us well, and we made great memories there, but we couldn’t be more excited about our new space. We will continue to offer the same friendly service at our new address on Old Church St, Athenry, Co. Galway which will allow us to offer an even larger selection of products and services e.g. product demonstrations, support for people with disabilities living independently and employment for people with disabilities.

Over the past few weeks we have been working closely with Employ Ability and will continue to work with them in the future, to try and create as much employment as possible around Galway city and county for people with disabilities.

Galway 2020 bid

We will be supporting different types of community events through out the year and you might be aware that Galway was bidding to become The European Capital of Culture 2020. The European Capital of Culture is an initiative of the European Union and has been running since 1985.

On Friday the 15th of July, Galway was named European Capital of Culture 2020 along with Rijeka in Croatia. The 2020 winning cities, will take the title for a year and receive a prize of €1.5 million.

So as you can imagine there was loads of excitement around Athenry because it was chosen as one of three towns to run the pilot project ‘Small Towns, Big Ideas’ for Galway’s 2020 European Capital of Culture bid and for the first few weeks we were delighted to share our new office space and support the people in Athenry while they got their campaign under way to make Galway The European Capital of Culture 2020.

So for the last few weeks we have been enjoying the music and company of the people who are running the project as well as chatting to the locals who have been popping in for advice and a friendly chat before our big opening on the 30th of September.

We encourage events like this to come in and share our space so if there is any organisation you might no of, who need a space to advertise their campaign or event, don’t hesitate to pop in.
